In this article we could tell you that shaft composition, shaft flex, club design and a whole other list of accessories could make you a better golfer, but the truth is practice and mastering the fundamentals will make you a better golfer.

Just going out and hitting a bucket of balls won't do the trick either if your golf swing is flawed, so what is the next step? Lets take a look at a few fundamental exercises you can work on.

Balance

Balance is one of the most important aspects of a good golf swing. Just take a little time on the range and focus in on watching others swing, you will see this flaw in many golfers swing.

Balance affects pace and contact. Making good contact with the ball is imperative to distance and direction. There is an exercise you can do to improve your balance. Everyone is use to practicing their swing with their feet apart, all you have to do is put your feet together and start with an abbreviated swing. Once you feel comfortable begin to widen your swing.

If you feel the temptation to pull you feet apart, tie a string around your ankles to keep this posture in place. It feels awkward at first, but after a few sessions you will become more comfortable with the exercise and this will help you become a better golfer.

The One Arm Exercise

This exercise is for control and strength. Which ever arm is your power arm (pull thru arm), this is the arm we want to concentrate on.

One problem golfers have is allowing the guide arm to get involved in their swing, to remedy this we have to isolate the power arm and practice using only that arm. This is another exercise that takes a few sessions to get use to.

Take your normal stance and grip, then take your guide arm and release the club. Keep this arm by your side, start slowly swinging the club with your power arm only. Once you have practiced this for a few days it's time to do this exercise with a ball in front of you. It will take some time to master, but getting control of your power arm is going to payoff down the road.

These exercises are basic fundamentals you must practice if you want to become a better golfer. The things mentioned earlier balls, clubs, grips, flex, these are all things that are factors when it comes to fine tuning your game, but at this point the fundamentals are the things you need to master first.
